Norderstedt
My first Stevens Cup race of the season did not disappoint! With its loamy single-track and technical switchbacks, Norderstedt is one of my favorite courses of the series.
I registered late so was relegated to the rear of the start, which in hindsight, was a chance to work on my passing skills. Patience was key as there were very few opportunities to pass other riders.
One critical mistake on the second to last lap cost me a few places; I tried to hop the barriers and ended up going over the bars and hitting the deck. It was also at this time I lost the guy in front of me and had two folks pass me. I was able to pass one of them but the other two were out of sight.
Live and learn.
After racing in the USA, Germany is all-business which makes me miss those sweet, sweet hand-ups and overall easier vibes that USA cyclocross (i.e.: SSCXWC MPLS) races deliver.
